Wednesday 11th September 2019

Today brought five very different individuals together; a designer, fitter, marketing manager and two salesmen.  This isn’t the start of a poor joke, but a perfect example of the breadth of individuals that the Make it Happen Education Day can benefit.

Whether you have been in the industry for 5 minutes or 25 years, there really is something for everyone.

It is easy to be excited the moment you walk into SignFab, the venue of the Education Programme, but it is the welcoming atmosphere that Sam brings to the information loaded day that eases you into a day of insightful and dynamic learning.

Coming from a strong background of signage, Sam is highly respected in the industry which has brought the honour of becoming Vice President of The ISA, with her knowledge and passion overflowing as she talks.

“People learn from people in this industry"
It was this repetitive saying that inspired the idea of an education programme for the signage industry.  The Make it Happen training programmes were created to support the industry and give a quality and standard level for those who want to stand out from the crowd.

You would expect a training day to be held in a stuffy classroom with a teacher intent on sending you to sleep!

The Make it Happen Education Programme is far from it. You will be gently guided into the realms of traditional built up signage, illuminated letters in all their many forms and later, onto new technologies and how they could be utilised to help drive your business forward.

“Where do you view a sign?”
“Why is there an arrow on the back of aluminium composite panels?”

These questions may be simple to some but a mystery to others that have even been in the industry for many years.  Sam’s ability to ask the simple questions that we often miss in the day to day world can leave you in utter fascination at all that she and the Make it Happen Ladies have to offer.

Whilst the Education Programme is heavily focused around Sam’s knowledge, carefully thought out into the detailed presentation, the Dress Down Hands On Programme is the polar opposite.

The Dress Down Hands On Programme looks at how signs are made, with the emphasis on how much planning, knowledge and skill goes into bespoke signage.  From soldering your very own built up number, fitting the LEDs yourself and finally mounting this to a folded panel, you will learn the full process through a number of different departments.
Each course brings very different teaching methods and equally alternative end knowledge.  You may feel you will benefit from knowing how signs are made rather than the knowledge of what they are called, and the Make it Happen ladies are here to help guide you through the decision.

In any signage role, the Education Programme will aid your knowledge and ability to help customers, staff or simply give you confidence with industry terminology.  The Dress Down Hands On Programme however is more suited to project managers and sales staff. With the added benefit that both courses are CPD accredited, this gives you not only the benefit of industry knowledge, but giving yourself or your employees a certificate for their time along with a newfound enthusiasm for signage.

Sam’s vision of uniting the signage industry is alive in the courses which she delivers, inspiring and motivating all who have the pleasure of the Make it Happen Signage Consultancy company.

What have attendees had to say about the Make it Happen Education Programme?

“I REALLY REALLY REALLY enjoyed the course, despite 19 years industry experience (I think) it was full of really clever snippets like coloured locators, magic letters , concrete projecting sign were all BRILLIANT!! Thank you for a really enjoyable day!”
Jamie Mallon, Senior Business Manager, Emtec

"As a relative newcomer to the industry I found the day well planned, full of information and related experience well delivered from Sam who designs the courses.
“The discussion with fellow professionals is varied, interesting and filled with the sorts of hints, tips and experiences I could not have got elsewhere. Sam and Katie are a great team and it's a dead cert we will be calling on them in the future.
"Venue was convenient and interestingly, held at a fabricator’s enabling us to see processes and finishes which added a very practical dimension to the day.”
James Gibson from sign-makers Nocturnal UK
